When the manager becomes the room.

Manager training · 2024

Empty meeting room with chairs

A growing company came to us with a familiar pattern: their managers had been promoted for being great at their jobs, not for being great at holding other people. The team was burning out underneath them, and the managers were burning out trying to fix it without the tools.

Traditional management training wasn\'t landing. The slide decks felt corporate, the role-plays felt performative. What they needed was something closer to therapy than to training — a space to actually feel what their team felt, and then practise responding from that place.

What we built

A six-month manager programme combining one-to-one practitioner sessions with small-group skills work. Real conversations about the conversations they were avoiding. Tools for holding difficult feedback without making it about themselves. Permission to not have all the answers.

What changed

The managers who went through the programme reported lower stress, better team relationships, and — quietly — a different relationship with the work itself. Their teams reported feeling safer to bring real problems up. The company saw the kind of cultural shift that doesn\'t show up in one quarter but compounds over years.
